Anita Thomas
Bio / Artist Statement
Anita Thomas is a lifelong, multi-disciplinary artist originally from Toronto and living in Hamilton since 2004. Specializing in encaustics, Anita also enjoys working in acrylics, cold wax with oils, and fine art aviation, aerial, and landscape photography.
“My work covers a range of mediums and styles. I love the change of materials and techniques moving from one medium to another. Stimulation and fanning the fire of creativity is most important, and for me, that comes from many sources. ‘Mardi Gras in Paris’ is from one of our many visits back home with my Parisian husband. The staging area for this Mardi Gras parade was so festive and involved people all ages. Such fun!”
Thomas’ award-winning work is sold through specialty stores and online. She has participated in many juried group and solo exhibitions, arts festivals, and fundraising events at art venues, galleries, and museums, including the Louvre in Paris, France.
Her work hangs in private collections and professional offices throughout Canada, the United States, France, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
