Exhibition No. 4

Since Gail Burstyn can remember, she has been drawn to the beauty of the natural world. So affected she was by the things that she saw, that Gail bought a camera and started shooting. She was captivated. Gail became a photographer.

Nature was her first love and subject matter, and remains so today. Gail began with landscapes and over the next 20 years explored other forms such as portraiture, street, wildlife, and animal photography, but she has returned to nature as her true muse, which rarely fails to inspire.

Gail remains committed to a naturalist, almost documentarian, style. Her images are lightly edited, allowing the power, beauty and grace of the natural world to meet the viewer directly, as if the photographer didn’t exist. She strives to create honest, true depictions of beauty, imbued with the emotions she felt in capturing the image, yet so real that the machinations of the photographer vanish.
