Robert Pinchin

Bio / Artist Statement

For the past few years Robert Pinchin has been developing his photography while living in Hamilton. He went to school for history, has an interest in architecture and the built environment, and is working towards becoming an urban planner. These are all interests that largely inform his photography.

Since growing up in Brampton, Robert has always been attracted to large structures, infrastructures, and trying to experience them in unique ways. He got into exploring abandoned buildings for a few years and started shooting photos as a way to document the places he saw.

Eventually the interest in abandoned buildings was surpassed by a genuine appreciation and love for photography as an art form. From there he used it as a medium for himself to interpret and experience new places where he lived. He finds it to be an extremely therapeutic activity and the independent nature of walking through new cities and photographing them has had a huge effect on the type of person he has grown to be.
