Relocating to Hamilton in 2010 and inspired by its historic architecture and streetscapes, Carol Priamo has combined her practices in photography, printmaking and collage to develop a new direction in mixed media collage – multi-layered, tapestry-like compositions of surrealistic expression.

Incorporating both traditional and digital collage techniques, disparate elements are combined and transformed to create a new and surprising ‘reality’. This process of transmuting raw materials into a unified work is unpredictable – like a journey without a map. Exploration, experimentation and discovery are key in pursuing and realizing her creative vision.

Carol’s award-winning work has been exhibited in juried solo and group shows in Canada and the U.S., published in magazines and in her books on Canadian architectural heritage. Many of her artworks interpret the inherent beauty, underlying order, and endless variety of the unique architectural character of our everyday environment.
