Exhibition No. 1

I am a contemporary visual artist born in Kitchener Ontario, now living & working in Hamilton Ontario. The intent of my work is to express the unique beauty of the Northern Ontario landscape.

My process begins during trips to north; hiking & exploring the landscapes with camera, paints & sketchbook. The research combined the experiences of the landscapes are the foundation of the work.

Next I focus on compositional sketches. The sketches are transferred to canvas. An initial layer blocks in the large forms & additional layers build up the forms into three dimensional objects that reflect & glow with light.

My goal is to express the feeling of the moment. My favourite lighting is early morning & many of my works reflect this. For me, dawn brings the promise of a new day, new adventures, and joy.

My unique style continues to develop each time I paint, and I look forward to each canvas as a new beginning, like the dawn of each day.
